Heidelberg Materials is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to oversee the mechanical operations at Kulnura Transport Workshop located on the NSW Central Coast region. As the Lead Mechanic , you will be responsible for supervising maintenance activities, mentoring junior mechanics, and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards. You’ll play a key role in planning preventive maintenance, coordinating repairs, and driving continuous improvement across our mechanical operations. This leadership role is critical to ensuring the reliability and performance of our fleet of tippers and associated equipment. What You’ll Do: Lead and coordinate inspections, diagnostics, and repairs of heavy vehicles and equipment Plan and manage preventative maintenance to reduce downtime Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle regulations, including safety and emissions standards Maintain accurate service records and oversee documentation practices Respond to breakdowns and manage roadside repair operations when required Provide technical guidance and training to mechanics and apprentices Collaborate with external service providers and internal stakeholder to align mechanical operations with production needs What You’ll Bring: Trade-qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic (essential) Proven leadership and team coordination experience Strong diagnostic skills - especially with electronic engines and hydraulics HC drivers' licence (preferred) Experience with Mack, Volvo, MAN, or Kenworth (preferred) A safety-first mindset and commitment to quality, efficiency and process adherence What’s on Offer: Full-time role with regular paid overtime Competitive pay based on your skills and experience Supportive, inclusive team culture All successful applicants will need to complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
